Law and Policy Review on Green Hydrogen Potential in ECOWAS Countries

This paper aims to review existing energy-sector and hydrogen-energy-related legal, policy, strategy documents in the ECOWAS region. To achieve this aim, current renewable-energy-related laws, acts of parliament, executive orders, presidential decrees, administrative memoranda were analyzed. The study shows that countries have strived design consistent legal instruments regarding renewable energy developing comprehensive legislation bylaws consolidate it encourage investments energy. Despite all these having a legislative basis for regulating energy, there are still weaknesses revolve around law policy its possible application green hydrogen production use. central conclusion is member states presently no official policies nor place. rise presents challenge opportunity members play an important role fast-growing global market. Therefore, need reform their regulatory frameworks align by introducing order accomplish economy transition future boost continent’s sustainable development.
